Issued by the Australian New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee these principles were published to assist owners/operators of crowded places working with private security providers. The Principles are aimed at assisting crowded places’ owners/operators and government bodies in preparing, awarding, and managing security contracts.
Private security providers play a vital role in safeguarding crowded places. These professionals—ranging from security contractors and consultants to frontline guarding officers—often serve as the first responders to incidents. To be effective, they must possess high levels of training and professionalism.
The principles outlined in this document should also be well-known to security providers – that is, they are helpful in highlighting best practices for strengthening the guarding sector of our private security sector. The document itself is certainly recognition of the critical contributions to saftey and security that comes from the private security sector.
