The Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) will begin targeted compliance checks on security providers across the state in the coming months. This initiative is part of the OFT’s 2025–26 Regulatory Priorities and aims to ensure providers meet their legislative obligations while maintaining public safety.

Security providers play a vital role in protecting communities and must operate within the bounds of the law. The OFT will conduct inspections during scheduled events and take appropriate action where non-compliance is identified.

To support providers, the OFT has developed a Security Providers: Best Practice Checklist (see Resources below for PDF download). This resource helps businesses and individuals assess their compliance and identify areas for improvement.
